Panasonic TC-20LA5 20-Inch LCD TV Review

Our 1992 RCA 26 inch screen TV died. And not being one of those families that eschews the TV, we knew we had to replace it soon. It had not been hooked up for High Definition (being an old TV), just regular DirecTV. I figured on getting the same size, foolishly thinking that TV’s had gotten more compact over time. Wrong. Todays CRT TV’s are huge. The footprint they leave is really big, and the weight can easily top 200 lbs. A similar size TV now would have been just too massive for our room. That left the flat panels. From what I understood, the flat panels, (LCD’s and plasmas) do not have a better picture than the Cathode Ray (CRT’s) of today, unless they are hooked up to High Definition, which I didn’t want. I went to a brick and mortar store to look and was disappointed with the size of the CRT’s, and the prices of the flat panel TV’s. I explained to the clerk what I wanted, a set that wasn’t oversized and heavy, but not a fancy HDTV style one either. He led me to the smaller LCD screens and pointed out this Panasonic (TC-20LA5). It was not HDTV ready, but it had the EDTV feature for enhanced definition. This was especially nice with the DVD in progressive scan mode. This LCD player was lined up with other sets by Samsung, Sony, Polaroid, and Sanyo, and it had the clearest, best picture of them all. It is not computer compatible, but looked like a regular LCD computer screen to me. I would have preferred a few more inches on the screen size, but it wasn’t worth the increase in price. This TV weighs about 20 lbs and takes up minimal space. I bought it and did the hook up of it to TiVO and a DVD player and it looks very nice. If you do stand too close, you can see the lines in it, but from watching distance of 7-15 feet, it is nice and sharp, brilliant colors. Don’t expect hi-def clarity with this, you aren’t paying for that, but you will still get a very fine picture to look at the richness of the colors still amaze me.
Don’t buy a turntable for it to sit on so you can change the viewing angles, the stand has its own built in one. I learned that the hard way.
I would highly recommend this TV for those people who aren’t into having a total HDTV system, and who want to graduate from the big bulky sets into these more compact sets. I can only hope the reliability is good, as with the higher cost of these, they can’t be replaced too often.
Panasonic TC-20LA5 20-Inch LCD TV Overview
TC-20LA5 is a 20″ diagonal LCD TV with built-in stereo speakers and included pedestal stand.Fast pixel response time is essential to accurate image reproduction on LCD displays. If the response time is too long, fast motion seen during sports broadcasts and action movies can cause blurring. This LCD TV features an impressive 23ms response speed, helping to ensure excellent detail and smooth motion during high-speed scene transitions. Some LCD displays require the viewer to sit within a very small sweet spot for good image quality. Move too far to the left or right and image quality drops off sharply. This LCD TV features an extremely wide viewing angle of 170?, so whether you’re right in front of the TV or sitting off to the side, you’ll still get great image quality.Traditional analog TVs display video in an interlaced format that splits each film frame into two separate fields, resulting in visible scan lines and other image artifacts. A progressive scan display shows each film frame as one solid frame, helping to create a stable, solid image free of interlaced artifacts.
Panasonic TC-20LA5 20-Inch LCD TV Feature
- Diagonal Screen Size (inches) 20
- Display Capability 480p (EDTV)
- Aspect Ratio 4 – 3 (Standard)
- Resolution (Number of Pixels) 640 x 480 (307,200 pixels)

great tv – Karen – California USA.
This is a great medium sized TV – fits in a small space. I don’t feel like I’m watching a small TV when I’m watching. I’m thinking about buying a second. I have had it a few years and it still is like new.

Panasonic VIERA X14 Series TC-50PX14 50″ 720p Plasma TV Review

Got it at Costco for 0. and it has a beautiful picture. No complaints! Last two tv’s were LCD’s and were nowhere near the quality of this set. first lcd was a Samsung 32″ and the last one was a Vizio 37″.
I did have the 42″ version of this for a short time but needed more, 50 ” at 10 feet is perfect.
I’ll be a Plasma fanboy for the next 5 years!

Panasonic TH 65PZ850U – 65″ VIERA plasma TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV Review

I purchased this 65 inch panasonic tv about a month ago. I am more than pleased. It has the best picture that I have ever seen on a tv. If you really want the experience of the movie theater at home then this is the way to go. The installation was simple(takes two strong people to lift it). The operation of the tv and remote was very easy. I have to say that I really enjoy this tv.
Panasonic TH 65PZ850U – 65″ VIERA plasma TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV Overview
Panasonic?s VIERA full HD 1080p PZ850 series previewed the industry?s first IP enabled television. The introduction of the IP enabled televisions, a technology that provides access to on-line content directly from the television with VIERA CAST technology, is one of many advances found in the PZ850 line.Recognizing the growing use of Plasma HD televisions in the gaming world, Panasonic created the Game Mode, which minimizes the time lag when displaying game images on the Plasma screen. The Mode synchronizes the response of the game image to the player?s operation, thereby producing an extremely clear image with no motion artifacts.Digital Cinema Color Re-Mastering is a value added technology that allows for color reproduction, enabling VIERA displays to reproduce the essential colors for viewing movies. 24p native reproduction, which negates the need for 3:2 pulldown, resulting in a smoother picture, is another feature that provides the best possible viewing experience.
Panasonic TH 65PZ850U – 65″ VIERA plasma TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV Feature

Anyone who rates it one star is nothing more than a troll.
Panasonic 65 inch Plasma does not include pedestal!!!! – Jingsheng Zheng – Voorhees NJ
There is no pedestal. There is no mention in the ad that this item doesnot include pedestal. I checked aroud. Average price is 0-1000. The worse part is that no one has the pedestal. It is back order for 1 month. 65 inch TV is lying on the floor!!!!!!!!! And waiting for the pedestal!!!!!!!!!
